Corelli Strings – conducted by Victoria Stapleton and Victoria Benjamin
Corelli Strings is Newbury Music Centre’s most advanced string ensemble and the majority of pupils are aged 11-18. They perform regularly at local venues, notably Douai Abbey and The Anvil, Basingstoke and they have also performed live on local radio. At the beginning of this academic year Corelli Strings and the two Newbury Music Centre junior string groups were invited to participate in a workshop with Chetham’s School of Music. They worked on the Vaughan Williams’ Concerto Grosso which was an amazing and inspiring experience for all involved. Corelli Strings enjoy exploring different styles and techniques and therefore have a wide range of repertoire, from Purcell to Katy Perry!
